From industrial units to residential complexes: the steel structures manufactured by Vic Obdam (Obdam, 70 employees) form the basis for countless construction projects. These are usually large projects and often there are materials left over. For Technical Director Pieter Klijn this was a reason to invest in an LM logic XL long materials storage rack. <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt would be wrong to throw these pieces away\u201d, he explains. \u201cNot just with sustainability in mind \u2013 an issue we are fully engaged with \u2013 but also from an economic perspective. The question therefore was: where do I put all this leftover material? Well, we are not short of height here, so we opted to purchase this rack.\u201d <\/p>\n Klijn is referring here to his 7.5-metre-high LM logic XL long materials storage rack, with extra-shallow drawers: \u201cWe have pieces of many different types. So the more drawers there are, the more types of material we can store in the rack. This rack is so robust and efficient. The possibilities it opens up for stock management also make it a fantastic system. We have also linked our material certificates to it. That way we know that everything is guaranteed if we store leftover materials. It\u2019s completely different from having a piece lying on the ground and no longer knowing where it came from.\u201d<\/p>\n In short, was it a good investment? \u201cI\u2019m not an accountant, but yes. We really needed that floor space. There\u2019s now a machine standing there that is earning us money. Otherwise the only way to create floor space would be to construct new buildings and at the time that was not a consideration for us.
